ROFLOL, but then they boast of how much better they are than we little pathetic lesser rpgers. And give us a dose of snobery.

My definition of "building a character" seems to differ from yours. See, I spent plenty of time "building my character" in beta GW... Experimenting with attributes, choosing weapons and armor, finding the best, most versatile and most efficient combination of skills I could bring to the table to compliment my team. That's what building a character means. Playing whack-a-mole until it tells you the numerical value that dictates your strength has increased by 1? No. That's something else.

GW is not a traditional RPG, and you're not going to get anywhere by trying to make it into one. I recommend you try some of the other fabulous choices on the RPG market.

do you seriously believe any of the dribble that comes out of your mouth? ArenaNet is trolling the forums catering to the people that want instant gratification by making the game easier....if you don't see that I feel bad for you. I expected to get my moneys worth out of this game...and hoped to get in early enough that I'd be done and over it by the time the hacking community hit it....which btw isn't far off. I haven't gotten that....and yes I feel a bit cheated for it. But I'm not complaining about the game as much as I am malcontented with the company that built and supports it. If you're going to patch a game every third day to appeal to the masses that complain and whine about the game being too hard or too time intensive...I as a gamer won't have any respect for you as a software company. Put some faith int he fact that you built a good game. PvP players want instant gratification...this I can understand...I'd hate to think that I'd have to go find my m4 to use it in counter strike.....but for us PvE players all ArenaNet has effectively done is made the game too easy to even stomach.

I as a player, dislike people like Algren Cole; who hates company that is giving up a game that SHOULD have monthly charges

I as a player, dislike Algren Cole who get angry because of a damn patch, i mean for god sake, ITS A PATCH (sorry about the cap) if you don't like the patch, delete GW and go play something else... like WoW

if i had know they were going to do this to the game then i wouldn't have bought it. i'm not a fan of 100% pvp, but it's getting to the point where that's the only think worth while to do.

oh yes and as a note: grind = killing things over and over and over right? so rpg games are a grind? YES! but what the heck? thats the only thing you do in pvp. The same thing over and over.. for some that's win win win, and for others that's get your trash kicked over and over. That's a freekin grind if anything else is.

this game is over for me and i'm sure for a lot of others if they keep moving in this direction.

I'm not the least bit angry...I still enjoy the game...I just see it taking steps in the negative rather than the positive. They're going to continue making the game easier until it's not even worth playing anymore.

I as a consumer have difficulty throwing away $50...mommy and daddy didn't purchase the game for me.

No, since I haven't resorted at every turn to calling other people underage. That kind of defensive posturing belongs to the young and stupid

everyone of your posts has been a personal attack at the poster you are responding to....that's pretty immature. My posts are attacks at the game...not the poster.

Nope, only the current crop of RPG's fit that sad definition. The ones I started with, rogue and hack, had no grind. When you re-enter a level in hack, it is as you left it. And new monster spawning was too slow to provide you with the food you need to stay alive. So you was forced to continue progressing, and thus to meet new (and stronger) monsters, rather than killing the same monsters over and over.

I don't believe any current games work like that, but at least Guild Wars allows me to play the way I like, one area/mission a time, until I beat it, and then move on. That is not grind.

If I wanted the "perfect" character, I would have to grind for items (or gold). Luckily, I don't care about having a "perfect" character. I just want to have fun playing the game, and when I have beaten it (solved all quests and missions) move on to something else. Then maybe replay it later with a different character.

Name one RPG that does not have a "grind". Even pin and paper, Shadowrun comes to mind but even though that game does not have levels you still collect "Karma points" to improve your abilities and buy better equipment. There is no game role playing game that I can think of that you are not stronger and better equipped form raiding dungeons and killing monsters than you where the first day you started, I.E. "grind". I’ve been playing RPG’s sense back in 79, one thing has not changed: kill.. level…get new stuff….repeat. I.E. "grind".

This is really foolish and immature. Seriously, if you have a problem with this patch you need to be in the sanatarium writing up ways to fix those "problems". Alot of this patch occured because people posted suggestions in that forum, and if you want proof, go to the sanitarium and do a search for Skill of capture, SOC, and/or runes. I'm willing to bet at least 1 if not all of these ideas came from there. What more proof do you need that the devs are only taking suggestions to heart.

sitting here endlessly arguing over whats already been done wont do anything. Problem with the patch? post fixes in the sanitarium. this argument is neither rational nor worth the space its takeing up. Theres no discussion, its all monkies throwing feces at eachother.

chill out, grow up.

Really? As a programmer myself I would be interested in hearing how you did this. What language did you use for it? What APIs to the search engines? Did you implement some kind of Bayesian algorithms? Please tell!

I'm sure he's a nice kid in real life, so ya don't have to dislike him. I've just gotten used to ignoring most of his posts because they repeat the same topic (about how much his opinion should rule over the common gamers).

Although he did lose credibility with the "do you seriously believe any of the dribble that comes out of your mouth? " topic. Thus far its a very binary topic: you either are smart, or you stupid. No real good reason to go insulting someone's opinion by using phrases that make them seem like idiots (when its really just a reflection on yourself and how you react). I don't care if your 12, 16, 21, 30, there is no good reason to insult someone that posts an opinion or a topic.

If you have nothing good to say about someone.... ya know where I'm going with that ;-)
